The rain is back, the parks are soggy, and the kids still have energy to burn. That’s when a good indoor playground saves the day.

But “play place near me” searches don’t tell you the things parents actually need to know: how much it costs with an adult, which ages it suits, whether there’s a time limit, and whether you’ll get turned away at the door for forgetting socks. So we checked five kids’ play places around Metro Vancouver on their official pages and put it all in one table.

PlayScape Café (Vancouver): Best for Babies, Toddlers and Coffee

PlayScape is a play café at 33rd and Main, made for kids 5 and under. The little ones play in a safe, modern play space while you sit with a real latte. It’s smaller and calmer than the big playgrounds, which is exactly why toddler parents like it.

  • Where: 4892 Main Street, Vancouver
  • Hours (fall and winter): every day, 9:30 am to 5 pm. On weekends it can close for private parties from 2 pm, but open play always runs until at least 1:30 pm. PlayScape says it’s open every day of winter break, including Dec 25.
  • Price: a 2-hour play reservation starts at $12. You don’t pay to reserve, and you can cancel up to an hour before.
  • Drop-ins: welcome, but a reservation holds your spot at busy times.
  • Good to know: every child needs a signed waiver, and everyone, adults included, wears socks in the play area. It isn’t a daycare, so stay with your kids.

TD Explore Zone at Museum of Surrey: Best Free Option

  • Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Sunday noon to 5 pm, closed Mondays

Which Play Place Should You Pick?

  • Under 2: PlayScape Café or Jolly Bubble (free under 12 months).

  • A wide age gap between siblings: Jungle Jacs.
  • Want to stay all day: Jolly Bubble’s all-day ticket or Kidtropolis (no time limit once in).
  • On a budget: the free TD Explore Zone, or PlayScape from $12.

Parent Tips

  1. Pack socks for everyone. Most indoor playgrounds require them, and some need grip socks. Keep a spare pair in the car.
  2. Sign waivers at home. Kidtropolis, Jolly Bubble and PlayScape all use waivers, and doing it ahead gets you in faster.
  3. Book ahead on rainy weekends. That’s when play places fill up. Jolly Bubble and Kidtropolis sell timed tickets online.
  4. Go on weekday mornings if you can. It’s quieter, and at Jolly Bubble it’s cheaper.
  5. Check before holidays. Hours often change on stat holidays and school breaks, so look at the website or Instagram the day before.
  6. Eat before or after. Kidtropolis and Jolly Bubble don’t allow outside food, so plan a snack stop.
