We Got Lost at Greendale Acres: An Honest Family Guide to Chilliwack’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch (2026)

We spent a fall day at Greendale Acres in Chilliwack. The farm opened Canada’s first corn maze in 1999, and the thought that goes into the place shows. There are pumpkins stacked on vintage tractors, a whole barn wall of heirloom squash, and cute touches around every corner. There’s also a lot to do. There’s something to keep kids busy around every corner.

Here’s what we loved, what could be better, and everything you need to plan your visit. The pumpkin patch is open until October 31.

The Corn Maze: The Main Event

The corn maze is the reason to come. The farm has made a different design every year since 1999, and this year’s is called “Got Corn?” You can pick a short or long route. Kids answer corn trivia to earn clues, and QR codes give hints if you get stuck. The farm says the maze is stroller accessible.

Got a competitive crew? Try Race the Maze. Scan a QR code at the start, at each checkpoint and at the exit, and your time goes on a season leaderboard. It all works with your phone camera, so there’s no app to download.

Hayride vs. Train: Which One?

The corn ride (hayride) is free. A tractor pulls a covered wagon on a big loop near the corn maze. The day we visited, the sign said rides left every 10 minutes starting at 10:00, with the last ride at 5:45. The farm says weekend wagon rides are included with admission.

The Greendale Express train costs extra. It’s a smaller loop that takes under 5 minutes. The chalkboard said $3 for one ride or $5 for unlimited rides, with the last ride at 5:45 p.m., and kids must be 9 or older to ride alone. The admission sign says kids 2 and under ride free. Our favourite part: the conductor stops at each row and asks if you’d like him to take your photo.

Our take: do the hayride for the views, and if your little ones love trains, get the $5 unlimited pass. Two rides already makes it worth it.

What Kids Will Love

There’s a lot to play on. These were the highlights:

  • Tricycle race track: a big tire-lined loop with trikes. It was fun for kids of all ages.
  • Corn sandbox: it’s filled with corn kernels instead of sand, with giant tires and ride-on diggers. It was just as fun as a sandbox, and there was much less to shake out of shoes and pockets afterwards.
  • Hay bale maze: it’s inside the barn, with stacked bales to climb and a slide. It was a lot of fun.
  • Big activity area: there’s a huge jumping pillow (no shoes, no food, kids must be supervised), tossing games like bean bag toss, and an obstacle course with tube slides.
  • Indoor barn games: we spotted giant Connect Four, ride-on toy cars and a wooden train table.

Farm Animals (Look, Don’t Feed)

You’ll meet chickens, roosters, a llama and more. Please don’t feed the animals. One thing we hadn’t seen at other farms is horse tail braiding: a wall of cartoon horses with real-hair tails that kids can practise braiding.

Fire Pits & S’mores

There are community fire pits that anyone can use, and private fire pits you can book, either at admissions or through the farm’s Groups page. You can roast your own s’mores or hot dogs over the fire.

The Greendale Grill sells a S’mores Kit for $10 that makes 4 s’mores. The farm allows outside food, but not restaurant takeout, alcohol, or BBQs or camp stoves. We couldn’t confirm whether bringing your own s’mores supplies or hot dogs for the fire pits is OK, so check with the farm before you pack them.

Food: Get the Pizza

The food was okay. The flatbread pizza was the best thing we ate, mainly because it came out hot. The smokie was a bit of a letdown: the sausage was hot but the bun was cold. Twenty seconds on the grill would fix that.

Prices from the Greendale Grill menu board on Oct 10, 2026:

  • Grilled goods: Farm Smokey $16.50, Smokey $9.50, Hot Dog $5.50, Veggie Dog $9, Corn Dog $5, Foot Long $17
  • Flatbread pizzas: Farm Style $17.50, Pepperoni $13, Cheese $11
  • Chili: Classic Chili $8.50, Farm Chili $15.50
  • Snacks: kettle corn or caramel corn $5.50; mini donuts, bucket of 25 $17.50 or bag of 10 $7.50; s’mores kit $10
  • Drinks: hot chocolate $4.50 (whip +$0.50), Trick or Treat Hot Chocolate $6, hot apple cider $5.50, pumpkin spice coffee $6.25, coffee or tea $3.50, slushy $4.50, pop $3

There’s a large picnic area with umbrellas and a few Adirondack chairs if you want to sit down and eat.

Pumpkins & Flowers

Pick your own pumpkin in the patch, and you’ll pay for it by size. The sign we saw listed mini pumpkins and gourds at $3.50, then $6, $8, $10 and $12 by size, and $15+ for larger ones. The heirloom bins (Cinderella, Porcelain Doll, Moonshine, Hot Chocolate and more) were priced from about $4 to $15.

U-pick flowers are still going: $10 for a mason jar or $25 for a vase, with sunflowers included. You pay at the Farm Shop.

What We Loved / What Could Be Better

What we loved

  • A thoughtful farm with lovely decorations everywhere you look
  • Tons to play on, for toddlers right up to big kids
  • A new corn maze design every year, which is the real draw
  • A free hayride, and a train conductor who offers to take your photo
  • Unique touches like horse tail braiding and the corn sandbox
  • Fire pits for s’mores to end the day

What could be better

  • Food was hit and miss. The pizza was great, but our smokie came with a cold bun.
  • Staff were mostly friendly. One staff member turned away mid-conversation, though they may just have been busy.
  • The extras add up. Pumpkins, the train, food and flowers are all extra, so set a budget.

Parent Tips

  1. Buy tickets online. It’s $3 cheaper per person, and it guarantees your spot on weekends.
  2. Get the $5 train pass if your kids will want more than one ride.
  3. Check the ride times. On our visit, the last hayride and train both left at 5:45 p.m.
  4. Planning s’mores? The $10 kit is easy. If you’d rather bring your own supplies, check with the farm first.
  5. Order the pizza. Hot, cheesy and the best thing on the menu.
  6. Dress for mud and gravel. Wear boots and a warm layer, and bring a wagon or stroller for little ones.
  7. Weekdays are calmer and cheaper, but they don’t open until 2 p.m.
