If you want a Halloween-season night out that costs nothing to get in, Maple Ridge’s Celebrate the Night is worth the drive. On Saturday, October 24, the City puts on two hours of glowing lantern displays, roving performers, face painting and food trucks. Then it finishes the night with fireworks.
This year there’s one big change: the event has moved to The ACT Arts Centre in downtown Maple Ridge. If you’ve seen older listings that say Memorial Peace Park, those are out of date. Here’s what to know before you pack up the costumes.

What Kids Will Love
- Lanterns and glowing pumpkins. The City lists lantern displays, spooky displays and glowing pumpkin displays, plus light installations around the site.
- Roving entertainers. Expect balloon twisting, face painting and performers wandering through the crowd.
- A contortionist performance. It’s a fun “how is that even possible?” moment for school-age kids.
- Live music from Teapot in the Tuba.
- Crafts, games and storytelling. The City promises crafts, games, storytelling and interactive activities for all ages.
- Fireworks finale at 8:15 p.m. That’s the big one for most kids.

Food Trucks
Eight food trucks are on the list for 2026:
- Corndog King
- Gary’s Kettle Corn
- Japadog
- Just Jerkin’ Around
- Little oOties Mini Donuts
- Reel Mac & Cheese
- Soda Rebel
- Truckin BBQ
Getting in is free, but the food isn’t. If you’re arriving at 6 p.m., dinner from the trucks is an easy way to make a night of it.
Costume Contest
Costumes aren’t required, but there’s a reason to dress up. The City runs a social media costume contest:
- Take a photo or video of your costume at Celebrate the Night.
- Post it on Instagram or Facebook, tag @YourMapleRidge and add #CelebrateTheNight.
- Get it posted by Sunday, Oct 25 at 12:00 a.m. (in other words, by the end of the night on the 24th).
Winners are announced by Friday, Oct 30. There are photo spots set up around the event, so it’s easy to get a good shot.

The Fireworks: Where to Watch
The main activities wrap up at 8:00 p.m., and the fireworks go off at 8:15 p.m. The City says to watch them from the parking lot behind The ACT Arts Centre, beside the Haney Transit Loop.
That 15-minute gap is your chance to grab a last treat, find a washroom, and walk over to the viewing area before the crowd does.

Getting There & Parking
- Address: The ACT Arts Centre, 11944 Haney Place, Maple Ridge.
- Transit: The ACT is about a 3-minute walk from the Haney Place bus loop. Use the TransLink Trip Planner to plan your route.
- Driving: The City says the underground parkade at 11944 Haney Place is the easiest way to park for The ACT. It’s pay parking, and you can pay with the hangTag app. The parkade has meters at the Edge Street, Leisure Centre and Civic Centre entrances, and the Leisure Centre meter takes cash. There’s no parking in front of the building.
- Biking: There are bike racks outside The ACT.
- Accessibility: The ACT building is wheelchair accessible from all three entrances (Haney Place Loop, Edge Street and the underground parkade).
- Questions: Email the City’s event team at [email protected].
Parent Tips
- Arrive close to 6:00 p.m. You get the most out of the two hours, food truck lines are shorter, and there’s time to see the lanterns before little ones fade.
- Plan around bedtime. The fireworks don’t start until 8:15 p.m. If that’s too late for your youngest, enjoy the lanterns and the performers and head home early. It’s free, so there’s no ticket to “get your money’s worth” from.
- Bring ear protection for babies and toddlers. Fireworks are loud up close, and some little kids find the noise harder than the dark.
- Layer up under the costume. It’s a late-October evening and it’s billed as rain or shine, and you’ll be standing outside in a parking lot for the fireworks. A rain shell over the costume makes the night much more comfortable.
- Make a Halloween weekend of it. The night before (Fri Oct 23), Burnaby has Bonsor’s Big Boo, a $2 indoor drop-in party for kids 10 and under. For a daytime pumpkin outing this month, the Bear Creek Pumpkin Train in Surrey runs through Oct 31. And if your kids love the lantern displays, the Astra Lumina night walk in Stanley Park opens Oct 22.
