Astra Lumina at Stanley Park 2026: A Family Guide to Vancouver’s New Night Walk Under the Stars

Stanley Park has a new after-dark plan this fall. Astra Lumina, the light-and-sound night walk from Montreal studio Moment Factory (the team behind Vallea Lumina in Whistler), makes its Canadian debut in Vancouver on Thursday, October 22, 2026. It’s a self-guided, one-mile loop through the forest at the old Stanley Park Railway site, with nine “star” themed zones of lights, projections, fog and an original soundtrack.

If your kids are the type who get excited just being out after dark, this one is built for that feeling. Here’s what you need to know before booking.

Tickets & Cost

Tickets are sold through the Fever app and website, and prices change by date and time slot.

  • Kids under 4 are free.
  • Ticket types: Adult, Child (4–12), Senior/Student (13–26)/Military, a Family Bundle (minimum 3 tickets, max 2 adults) and Group Bundle (8+).
  • The official FAQ says prices start at $35.90 for adults and $25.90 for kids, while the Fever listing currently shows tickets from CA$27.20 on some dates. Check a few nights; weeknights are worth comparing.
  • There’s an on-site box office, but slots can sell out and the site is cashless, so book ahead.
  • No refunds. Date changes are allowed up to 48 hours ahead through Fever when the option is enabled, and tickets can be transferred to someone else for free.

What Kids Will Love

The trail is broken into themed zones that tell a simple story: stars fall to Earth, light up the forest, then return to the sky. Along the way you’ll pass the Astra Archway, Falling Stars (lights dropping from about 20 feet above), a Cosmic Choir, Starlight Lanterns, the Celestial Trail with thousands of pixel lights overhead, and a big finale called Rise of the Stars.

For younger kids it plays like walking through a giant glowing storybook. Older kids and teens tend to go for the photo spots. Just remember: no flash.

Before You Go: Things Parents Should Know

  • Waiver required. Every guest needs a liability waiver, and kids under 18 go on a parent’s or guardian’s waiver. Do it at home and have the confirmation ready at check-in.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early. Late arrivals may not be guaranteed entry.
  • Bag check and metal detectors. No outside food or drink, and no light-up toys or accessories (they distract from the show).
  • Strobe and fog. Some zones have flickering or strobing lights and heavy fog. Worth knowing if your child is light-sensitive or nervous in the dark.
  • Strollers are allowed, but parts of the path are narrow, bumpy dirt on a hillside. A carrier is easier for toddlers.
  • Limited seating along the trail, and no coat check.
  • Washrooms (portable toilets) are on site. Snacks, drinks and merch are sold on site.
  • No pets; service animals are welcome.

Getting There & Parking

  • Parking: Limited paid parking on site. On busy nights, give yourself extra time.
  • Transit: The official page points to the Stanley Park bus loop. Use the TransLink Trip Planner for your route.
  • From the North Shore: It’s a quick hop over the Lions Gate Bridge.

Making a full Stanley Park day of it? Spend the afternoon at Fin-tastic Fall at the Vancouver Aquarium (runs to Oct 31), grab dinner, then do your Astra Lumina slot after dark.

Parent Tips

  1. Pick the earliest slot for little ones. It’s an evening walk, so an early slot keeps bedtime from slipping too far.
  2. Dress for a forest walk, not a mall. Waterproof shoes, a rain jacket and warm layers. It runs rain or shine.
  3. Turn off the flash before you get there. Flash photography isn’t allowed, and night-mode phone shots look better anyway.
  4. Use the bathroom before you start. It’s a mile-long loop with only limited seating along the way.
  5. Compare dates before you buy. Prices vary by night, and there are no refunds.

Quick Answers

Is it scary? It isn’t a Halloween haunt. It’s a calm, magical light walk. It is dark, though, with fog and some strobe effects, so very young or sensitive kids may want to hold a hand.

How long should we plan? Plan for 45–60 minutes on the trail, plus 15 minutes early for check-in and the waiver.

What if it rains? It runs rain or shine. If weather forces a cancellation, Fever emails you and tickets can be rescheduled.

Can we pay at the door? There is a box office, but it’s card only (cashless), and your slot may sell out. Booking online is safer.

Final Thoughts

Astra Lumina looks like one of the most magical new family outings in Vancouver this fall and winter: a dark forest, glowing stars and a soundtrack, all inside Stanley Park. Book a slot that fits bedtime, get the waivers done at home, dress for the weather, and let the kids lead the way down the trail.
