Hi there, kiddos! It’s Big Sis Aris! Today we’re answering a warm and colorful question — why isn’t Mexico’s “Day of the Dead” a sad holiday?

Have you guys ever missed a family member or a pet who has gone to heaven? In Mexico, there’s a special day that feels like a joyful carnival — a day when families happily welcome their loved ones back for a sweet reunion!

You know what? Mexican people believe that death isn’t the end — it’s the beginning of another journey. Just like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, they believe their loved ones have gone to a beautiful new world. And on the Day of the Dead, those loved ones return to visit and celebrate!

Here’s a little secret — the whole festival is filled with bright colors and yummy treats! Families make beautiful altars decorated with marigold flowers, candles, and the favorite foods of the loved ones they’re welcoming. It’s like preparing a warm, cozy “welcome home” party!

And guess what? The Day of the Dead is full of music, dancing, and laughter! People paint cheerful skeleton faces, wear colorful costumes, and join lively parades. It’s their way of saying to their family in heaven, “We’re doing great down here — please don’t worry!”

If everyone cried all day long, wouldn’t their loved ones in heaven feel sad? Just like if your birthday party was full of tears instead of smiles, you’d wish everyone would celebrate happily with you!

So the Day of the Dead is like a big, bright bridge of love, connecting two worlds with joy, memories, and kindness.

Remember, kiddos — when you miss someone in heaven, you can draw them a beautiful picture, plant a little flower, or remember them with a happy heart. And if your family has special ways to remember loved ones, tell Big Sis Aris — let’s collect warm traditions from around the world together!
