What to Expect at Tugboat Landing Playground (River District, Vancouver):

Our kids loved clambering aboard the bright red tugboat play structure, steering with three big wheels and making up their own river adventures. There are two slides for speedy escapes, portholes for lookout duties, and a fun area underneath the “deck” for quieter imaginary games. The playground is surrounded by big logs and stones—perfect for balancing acts and a little dose of West Coast nature.

Why We Recommend Tugboat Landing Playground

Imaginative play: The tugboat theme lets kids really dive into pretend play.

Safe & fenced: Especially great for younger kids, so parents can relax.

Family-friendly location: In the River District, close to trails and river views.

Insider Tips from Our Visit:

  • This playground gets plenty of sunshine—remember those hats and extra sunscreen!
  • Street parking is available, but avoid the tiny lot set aside for building sales.
  • Bring snacks for the picnic tables, but note there aren’t public washrooms here.
  • If you have energy left, follow the nearby walking paths to spot real tugboats on the Fraser, or check out Driftwood and Riverfront Park playgrounds nearby.
