Brentwood Park Playground – Burnaby

Brentwood Park’s playground has a lot of amenities. Brentwood Park Elementary is to the South East and two tennis courts are to the South West of the park. The playground is located near the North West corner of the park which abuts quiet streets. This playground contains a playset, a wood stump climber, a swing set, a seesaw, a spinner climber, a sandbox, and a wading pool. There are also lots of benches and one covered picnic table.

The Playset:

The playset includes 3 slides, 1 perforated tubed tunnel, climbers, and activity boards. The slides have quite a bit of friction which created static, not a comfortable zap to touch your kid when they just came off the slide. The kids seem to enjoy the perforated tunnels quite a bit. They would use it to play the toddler version of hide-and-seek.

The Swing set, Spinning climber, and Seesaw:

The swing set has the typical 2 swings with 2 baby swings setup, not much worth noting. The spinning climber is a bit small but does the job. The seesaw is dated with misaligned tires beneath which may cause pinching of the thighs. It goes as high as 5’ off the ground, so it is suitable for older kids.

The Wood stump climber:

The wood stump climber is a nice change of scenery from artificial playground amenities. The natural material and low height make them enjoyable for kids of all ages.

The Sandbox:

The decent-sized sandbox comes with a mini metal excavator like the ones in the Burnaby Central Park Playground. It is surrounded on 3 sides with logs. It can comfortably accommodate 3 to 4 kids.

Other Amenities:

Other amenities include bench seating and a covered picnic table. Two benches nearest the playground have little bear displays and kids enjoy playing with them. There is also a wading pool for kids to cool off during summer.

Brentwood Park Playground at Burnaby has dated facilities but it has all you need in a playground.
